She loved playing in doubles tournaments throughout Hawaii. She was a member of AAUW and volunteered at The Contemporary Museum. $nameLEE ANN COBB March 1, 1918-April 19, 2015 Lee Ann died in her home at The Plaza at Punchbowl, where she had resided since 2012. Lee Ann was born in Parkston, South Dakota to John and Mathilda Koth. She learned to work hard at an early age on the family farm, tending to their cattle herd and other farm chores. She spoke fondly of "running the coulees" with the cattle and then settling down with a book in the pasture while the cattle grazed. After graduating from high school, Lee Ann studied accounting in college in California, and worked as an accountant-bookkeeper throughout her career. She was one of the founding members of the American Society of Women Accountants, Hawaii Chapter, holding card No. 2. Lee Ann worked for a local printing company and related entities for years, and then worked in private practice for individual clients. Lee Ann married local attorney- Bankruptcy Judge William B. ("Bill" or "Colonel") Cobb in 1959 and they enjoyed a wonderful life together travelling and entertaining, until Bill died in 1983. Lee Ann was a fiercely independent, strong-willed person, who was generous to a fault. She prided herself on being well-dressed, and color coordinated, including hats and matching handbags. Prior to moving to The Plaza, she frequently walked from her downtown condominium to the Hilton Hawaiian Village (and back) to meet with a friend. Lee Ann was an active member of Kawaiaha'o Church, and the March of Dimes Foundation, Hawaii Chapter. For over 30 years, continuing into her 80's, Lee Ann walked in the 6 mile March of Dimes WalkAmerica fundraising event, inspiring hundreds of people to contribute more than $50,000 to the March of Dimes, the second highest continuous fund raiser in the history of the Hawaii program, with the goal of reducing birth defects and infant mortality. As a final contribution to her community, Lee Ann has contributed her body to the U.H. John A. Burns School of Medicine Willed Body Program to further the education of our local medical students. Lee Ann is survived by Bill Cobb's children, Steve Cobb and Stephanie Wood, Lee Ann's nieces, Sydney Schuman (Mickey), Kay Koth and Rene Powless and nephews Dellas Weber and David Playford, and her hanai family Linda Elders, Jim and Jeanne Duffy, Jennifer (Mike) Duffy, Jessica (Josh) Kreye and great grandchildren Gracie and Addison Kreye. Lee Ann's family wishes to thank Dr. Gerald Soon, the administration and staff at The Plaza at Punchbowl, and Island Hospice for the wonderful care given Lee Ann. It is much appreciated. At Lee Ann's request, there are no formal services. If anyone wishes to make a charitable contribution in her name, the family suggests the March of Dimes Foundation, Hawaii Chapter, 1580 Makaloa St., Suite 1200, Honolulu Hi. 96814.
