Terry Lynne Werning
Terry Lynne (McDowell) Werning, 68, of Kailua, died peacefully at home in the early morning on Sunday, September 9, 2018. She was born in Burbank, California, and lived most her life on Oahu, graduating from Punahou in 1967. Her great passions in life were music, her faith and her love for animals. She was an accomplished flutist, guitarist and singer. With her husband Dan, they created the Hawaii Sacred Choir. Terry cared for many animals in her life - wild and domestic. She was the "go-to" person if someone found an orphaned or injured bird or other creature. She was preceded in death by her beloved sons Alika and Kawika Hew. She is survived by the love of her life, husband Daniel J. Werning; sister Connie McDowell and her husband Jim; brother Bruce McDowell and his wife Betsy; granddaughters Alyssa H. Maring-Hew, Prycia Gonda-Hew and Sasha A. Cambra; and granddaughters' mothers Naomi A. Maring, Gloria "Tita" Gonda and Suhi Cambra. Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Oct. 20 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Kailua, followed by a luncheon in the parish hall.
