JAMES BENJAMIN SEELIGJune 17, 1927- June 8, 2017 Jim Seelig passed away peacefully on June 8 in Eugene, Oregon. Jim was adopted to Hawaii by Adria and Benjamin Seelig when he was 6 years old. He grew up living in Kailua on the island of Oahu. Jim attended Iolani School and graduated from Roosevelt High School, class of 1945. After his high school graduation, Jim attended college at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington where he earned a Bachelor's of Art in Education in 1951. He served as Student Body President in 1949-1950 and was listed in "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities for 1950-51. In 1951, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Suzanne Johnson. They raised six children and lived together in their home in Kailua for 25 years. Jim and Suzanne divorced in 1975. Jim began working for Hawaiian Telephone Company in 1951. He spent 36 years working in sales and marketing, education and training and retired from Hawaiian Telephone in 1987. He also made use of his degree in education by teaching citizenship classes in the evenings. In 1976, in Hawaii, Jim met the love of his life, Pat Orme. Pat was a British citizen attending a United States citizenship class that Jim taught. Jim and Pat married in 1990. In 1993, they moved to Eugene, Oregon. Jim is survived by his wife Pat as well as his six children from his first marriage; Cecilia (Jerry) Gue, Doug (Ingrid and one grandchild), Terry (Dawn), Tony (Jodie and three grandchildren) Pamela, and Christopher; and by Pat's four children, Greg (Sharon and two grandchildren), Sharon (Jeff and 3 grandchildren), Darrell, and Christopher. Jim is also survived by his two brothers, John and Bob. A private ceremony for scattering of ashes will be at Kailua beach on October 3. A Celebration of Life for Jim Seelig will be held at the Kalama Beach Club, 280 N. Kalaheo Ave. at 11:30 on October 3, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Sacred Hearts Hospice in Eugene, Oregon or Hospice Hawaii in Honolulu.

She was a homemaker in Halaula, HI, a creative seamstress, wonderful cook and always had a smile. She is predeceased by her husband Shintoku of 74 years and daughters Jane and Georgianne Kise. She is survived by her daughters Barbara (Gus) Arguello, Cynthia (Warren) Matsuda, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grand-children, sibling Nobuichi Katekawa and many nephews and nieces.
