$nameELOISE ANALIKA AKANA BRUNS Passed away peacefully on May 13, 2016. She was born in Honolulu, T.H. on February 13, 1923 to parents Christina Arpe Akana and Joseph Wong Akana. She was raised in Hilo and met her husband LeRoy there. They raised three children, Georgette, 'Elua, and Kamalu in Honolulu. Eloise retired from Kamehameha Schools/Bishop Estate in 1993 after 36 years of service. Eloise was very active in her community, serving for many years with three organizations: International Toastmistress Club, Ahahui Kaahumanu Chapter 1 and the Hawaiian Civic Club of Honolulu. She held many leadership positions including multiple terms as President and Vice President, Protocol Chairman, and Parliamentarian. She also volunteered as a Greeter at 'Iolani Palace from 1995 to 2009. Eloise is survived by sons 'Elua and Kamalu (Sara); sisters Ann Nathaniel, Yolande Princler, Ku'uipo Dias, and Ellen Kealohapauole; brothers William Yomes, and Kaipo Yomes; grand-daughter Lexi Burgess, numerous nieces and nephews, and hanai sons and daughters. Eloise was predeceased by her parents, Christina Arpe Yomes, Joseph Wong Akana, husband LeRoy C. Bruns; step Father Robert L. Yomes; daughter Georgette; brothers Robert L. Yomes Jr, Albert Yomes, Gregory Yomes; sisters Lani Kaulupali, Leilani Souza, Keala Ontai, Lorraine Yomes, Christine Shaw. Services are scheduled for Tuesday June 28,2016 at Saint Patrick Church, 1124 Seventh Avenue, Honolulu. Visitation at 9:00 a.m., Service from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. and Mass from 11:20 - 12:05 p.m.
