WILLIAM JARRETT JERRY HAALILIO BRUHN JR William Jarrett "Jerry" Haalilio Bruhn Jr (aka Baby Brother), 84, of Honolulu passed away peacefully on Nov 20 in Georgia with wife, Charmaine and daughter, Bridget at his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years; brother, Kalani (Puna) Dawson; sisters, Mapuana Kapana and Puaala (Benji) Wong; sons, Tevet (Marsha), Steven, Lyman (Sheila), Blaise (Michelle); daughters, Jermaine (Chris) Wendt, Amy, Malia (Edward) Millan, Bridget; 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Jerry was a loving husband, father and friend whose legacy as a teacher, coach, and athlete will be remembered by the many lives he touched. A St Louis College Alum, he excelled at basketball and went on to play for the University of Hawaii. He was also the first UH men's volleyball coach. His journey through life included being the recipient of the Purple Heart in the Korean War, as a member of the U.S.M.C. "Semper Fi". He was a GS9-11 while with the Civil Service stationed overseas in the Philippines, Taiwan and Panama. One of his many joys was the years spent teaching & coaching at St Louis HS and UH. The one constant in his life was the partnership he shared with his wife, guided by prayer and a life dedicated to God and family. Aloha! To Be Continued Rosary at St. Louis Chapel 12/10 at 8am; Private service to be held at Punchbowl.

$nameIn Loving Memory JOHN VIRGIL BREWER December 20, 1941 - November 18, 2014 John Virgil Brewer was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, December 20, 1941, to John Shelton Brewer and Lelia Louise (Ford) Brewer. Soon after his birth, the family moved to California. John grew up and went to school in San Diego. In June of 1960, he graduated from Kearny High School and in October he joined the U.S. Army, serving from 1960-1963 as an E5 Chaplain's Assistant at Fort Carson, Colorado. On December 30, 1960, John married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Lee Hall, at the Linda Vista Presbyterian Church. In October 1963, John started his career in dry cleaning at Fed-Mart Cleaners. Then, in July 1968, his business partners purchased Sun Cleaners and John moved his wife and two daughters, Debbie Lynn (born 1964) and Laurie Kay (born 1966), to Hawaii. Sun Cleaners was sold in 1970 by Clabir Company, then sold again to Hillman Company in 1974. John then worked as the General Manager, running eight dry cleaning locations. In 1980 John and Beverly purchased these eight locations eventually expanding the company to 26 Al Phillips the Cleaner stores and also starting their Uniform Rental Company on Oahu in Hawaii. John and Beverly sold the Hawaii businesses in 2005, and retired to Newport Beach remaining active in their California and Oregon stores. During his career, John was involved in many organizations: Young Presidents' Organization; Honolulu Executive Association; Rotary Club of Honolulu; Textile Rentail Association; Chamber of Commerce in Hawaii, Oregon and California. John was also a founding member of the MC12 Varsity Group of the top twenty dry cleaners in the U.S. He served on the Civilian Advisory Board for the U. S. Air Force for twelve years, flying to the Arctic, Easter Island and the South Pacific, inspecting bases on Air Force One. He was in South Carolina for the Hawaii Executive Conference of Top Twenty-Eight businessmen. John's interests included golf, fishing, travel, Lamborghini road trips and horse races. He especially enjoyed family guest ranch visits, cruises, skiing trips and being with dear friends. John is survived by his wife of 53 years, two daughters and their husbands, five grandchildren, two sisters, one brother and many nieces and nephews as well as longtime friends and employees.
