$nameCHARLOTTE BECKER (BECKY) CONNABLE Passed away on September 2, 2014. Born in Berkeley, California, on January 31, 1915, Becky grew up in Berkeley and in Atherton, California, and graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Art. She married her college classmate, Harold ("Hal") M. Connable, who preceded her in death in 1986. Becky raised her three children in Honolulu, Hawaii, instilling in them, and in her grandchildren, a love ofeducation, travel, art, music, and hospitality. Becky designed the signs and apparel for Dwight D. Eisenhower's presidential campaign in California as well as the campaign aloha shirts and muumuus for Hawaii's Governor William F. Quinn. She was President of the Honolulu Symphony from 1961-1963 and was active on the Boards of the Hawaii Opera, Kaahumanu Society, Hawaii Watercolor Society, and Stanford Alumni Association. Becky was also a member of the Outrigger Canoe Club, the Waialae Country Club, the Oahu Country Club, and one of the oldest members of the Menlo Circus Club in Atherton, California. A timeless beauty and fun to be with, Becky was the quintessential "hostess with the mostest" and welcomed many into her Kahala, Hawaii, home with warm aloha. Becky's roots go back to the owners of the Kennedy Gold Mine in Jackson, California, and the Rennie Brothers Winery (now the Flora Springs Winery) of Napa County, California. "No wonder I like to drink and spend money," she once laughed. Becky was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynne S. Connable. She is survived by her son, Alfred Bruce Connable, of Snowmass, Colorado, and her daughter, Laurie L. Connable, of Hilo, Hawaii, and by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Becky's Life is planned for the summer of 2015 in Honolulu.

HARRY V. GAYNOR, JR. Nov. 26, 1929 Oct. 3, 2014 He may be gone from our sight, But never from our hearts. Born in Ramsey, New Jersey, Harry spent most of his adult life in Hawaii. Arriving for the first time before Statehood, he made the islands a permanent home for his family when he retired from the U.S. Navy in 1968 and continued his career as a Computer Analyst with the Federal Government at Pearl Harbor A kind and gentle soul, he was deeply loved by his family and greatly respected by those fortunate to have crossed his path. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki, sons Joseph (Lori), and John (Marie Valencia); grandchildren, Zachary, Jennifer, Camile, and Zander Gaynor and Jessica Gaynor Morimoto; and great-grandchildren, Lavinia Vaka, Tessa Morimoto, Eleni Vaka, Niti Vaka, and Kasen Morimoto. Family and friends gathered in Ewa Beach on October 18, 2014 for a private service and the scattering of his ashes. CLARA TOSHIKO NISHIOKA Our beloved Clara Toshiko Nishioka passed away peacefully at home early Wednesday morning, October 8, 2014. Born in Honolulu, she was a McKinley High School graduate in the Grand SlamYear of 1938. She was very talented in the areas of cooking, sewing, Japanese doll making, Ikebana, and Japanese tea ceremony. As an Army wife, she lived in Hakata and Tokyo, Japan; Tacoma, Washington; Monterey, California; and Baltimore, Maryland, before residing in Kailua, Hawaii. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Francis K. Nishioka; son, Clyde (Beverly) Nishioka of Maui; daughters, Sherron (John) Iopa of Hilo, and Lynnette Sakamoto of Kailua. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. A service to celebrate her life will be held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2014. Visitation at 9:00 a.m. No flowers. Casual Attire.

$nameROBERT RULE KENNY Robert Rule Kenny, 80, passed away on October 9, 2014 at his home in Kaneohe. He was born on November 1, 1933 in Queens, New York. He was a graduate of Colgate University, worked as a lifeguard at Jones Beach and taught history at Punahou School. Early in his career, he was the Management Programs Coordinator for the Hawaii Employers Council. He went on to run a successful consulting firm in addition to being a well-respected Arbitrator. A proud Mustang Lt. Colonel, Robert honorably served his country for over 21 years, first as an active duty serviceman and later as a Reservist in the Marine Corps serving for a number of years as the Commanding Officer for 4th Force Recon Company of Honolulu. He epitomized "Once a Marine, always a Marine" and he thoroughly enjoyed a dram of scotch and a fine cigar. He is survived by his loving wife, Sydney Pietsch Kenny, sons Robert K. and Matthew D. Kenny, Tyler (Stephanie) Helbush, daughter Liza (John) W�cker, four awesome grand- daughters (Kate, Alexa, Samantha and Allyson), Sister Mary Louise Miller and a niece and two nephews. Private services will be held at Punchbowl National Cemetery. Bob's life and birthday will be celebrated on November 1, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Murphy's. $nameALBERT "LARRY" GADDIS Albert "Larry" Gaddis passed away at home on October 5, 2014 with his wife Mimi by his side. Larry was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on March 4, 1947 to Albert and Lenora Gaddis. His father was an Air Force Officer and after Massachusetts the family lived in the Azores, Washington DC, Tokyo, California and Nebraska. Larry's love of fishing began in the neighbor's koi pond in Tokyo when he was six years old. After his father retired from the Air Force in 1967 he and Lenora settled in Paia, Maui. Larry graduated from Bellevue High School, in Bellevue, Nebraska in 1965. He attended the University of Nebraska on a wrestling scholarship and as one of his teammates said, he was not always victorious, but he was always fearless. He graduated in 1969 with a Major in English and his teaching credentials and then moved to Hawaii. He bused tables in Waikiki and lived in the old Waikiki Jungle until he was hired by the Department of Education to teach English at Waialua High School on Oahu. This was a magical time and place for a young man from Nebraska. His passion for fishing was further inspired in Waialua when the other young teachers taught him how to spear and cook fish. Larry moved on to teach at Baldwin High School on Maui. He then earned a Master's Degree from the University of Hawai'i and entered the administrative ranks of the DOE as Vice Principal of Maui High School. He was principal of Kohala School and Enchanted Lake elementary. He was an early adopter of technology through self-study and when he became an Educational Officer for the DOE he helped set up the first computer network in the Hawaii public schools. Larry loved fishing, cooking, eating and people. His particular passion was bottom fishing for deep water snappers in the Hawaiian Islands. He is survived by his wife Mimi Bornhorst Gaddis, son Beau Gaddis, daughter Summer Gaddis, sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Jim Johnson, two granddaughters, four nieces and nephews, five grandnieces and nephews and many friends. Celebration of Life at the Chapel at Oahu Cemetery on October 25, visitation at 2:30 p.m. service at 3:00 p.m., reception to follow, Aloha Attire, Donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
