ALFRED FAJOTA-13122020

ALFRED FAJOTA91, of Mililani, Hawaii, was called home to our Heavenly Father on April 4, 2020. Alfred's greatest influence in life was the love he experienced of having a loving family and sharing his love with us. He was known as a hard worker, he liked numbers and keeping records, very generous and likeable. His pastimes included enjoying watching baseball on TV especially the "Los Angeles Dodgers", before Parkinson's: he enjoyed Dancing, Bowling and Cooking. His favorite activity which gave him something to look forward to during his last few years was going to Las Vegas.
He and I would go to the "Cal" in Las Vegas at least 3-4 times a year for the past 4 years. He sat for hours playing Video Poker and through that, plus his winnings, we ended up getting "Comps" for use at the "Redwood Steakhouse". Here he enjoyed whatever he felt like at the time, which was usually a fine steak w/king crab legs plus a glass of wine!
He was generous and people was drawn to him, not sure if it was his humbleness or genuine good natured character but, people always came by to say hi, hoped he was doing well gambling , and most important, winning! He seemed to always come back a "winner", just like in Life in general.
He had a strong commitment to his faith. He was as a man of high integrity and righteousness. He routinely attended service when Mom was still alive. As his Parkinson condition worsened, he struggled w/mobility and it limited his enjoyment of things from years gone by.
Surrounded by his family One quite afternoon, God whispered that it was time, April 4th, 2020 next destination, where no more pain, suffering, and darkness existed, only "LIGHT", He arrived, God's promise fulfilled, Life everlasting!
Preceded in death by wife Carmen. He is survived by his brother, Bonifacio: Sons, Anthony (Barbara), Bernard (Colleen), Grandchildren, Darin (Brenda), Joshua (Rebecca), Justin (Summer), and Kayla (Jeff). Great-Grandchildren Caleb, Asher, Noah, Emma, Skylar, Jaelynn, and Ellie.

Kazuko MiyakawaKazuko "Kay" or "Katherine" Miyakawa, 93, peacefully passed away on November 24, 2020. She was born in Lawai, Kauai, the eldest daughter of Saroku and Asano Matsunaga. After graduating from Kauai High School in 1945, she moved to Honolulu. There, she met her husband, Richard. Married in 1949, they settled in Kaimuki. About that time, Kay planted pikake plants at the family vegetable farm near Kaimuki Intermediate School. That was the beginning of the Miyakawa Pikake Farm.

Because she excelled at improving the quality and production of the pikake, many growers requested her advice. She serviced many florists throughout the island, from Kahala to Wahiawa and Kailua. Many local celebrities sought her leis. Her children helped make leis throughout their growing years and beyond. Kay was very proud that her beautiful leis played a role in the life events of so many people.

In 1969, Kay and Richard built their dream home next to the Pikake Farm. She then expanded her business, growing dendrobium orchid. Her green thumb included a tiny vegetable patch that produced assorted vegetables. Her love of flowers didn't end in her garden. For many years, Kay studied Ohara Style of Ikebana at the Jodo Mission in Makiki. Each week, she displayed a gorgeous flower arrangement on the Japanese Tokonoma in her home.

Kay was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard "Rugged" Yuichi Miyakawa, her parents, and 8 siblings. She is survived by her children, Gail Chun (Edward), Sidney (Kristina), Leighton (Josephine), Colleen Kim (Michael Swenson), Diane Louis (Stanley), 11 grand- children, 10 great-grandchildren, and her brother, Larry Tamaki Matsunaga.
