Alice is predeased in death by John-Joe Joseph Jr. She is survived by three sons John "Chico", James "Jimmy" (Barbara), Ronald Joseph and three daughters Margaret (Sista) Cummings, Susan Fernandez (John) and Ginger Moniz, 25 grandchildren, 93 great-grand- children and 81 great-great- grandchildren. Two sisters Bernice McKeauge and Elizabeth Motta. Visitation will be held at Borthwick Mortuary (Maunakea Chapel) June 18, 2019 at 10:30am, followed by the service at 11:30am, burial at 3:00pm at Hawaiian Memorial Park.

Alfredo “Fred” Lara

Alfredo 91, of Mililani, Hawaii. passed away on April 3, 2019. He was born in Waipahu on July 9, 1927 to Rufo Lara and Reymondita Rivera. After being beat up by a group of teenagers at age thirteen, he was rescued by a Korean Martial Arts Master named Chen Dun Jung who later taught him how to defend himself using the "Kung Fu Body", along with breathing techniques of the Buddhist and Tao Systems. Sifu Chen Dun Jung introduced Fred to Master Park Bok Nam who then taught him the art of the Poison Hand, how to read aura in humans, animals, and trees along with meditation, special training in healing and massaging the internal organs, and moving Chi throughout the entire body system. In 1969, Fred earned is 10th Dan Red Belt as Karate Master. In 1972 Master Fred and his then current Sifu, Grand Master Ming Lum, became advisors to the Lontayao Martial Arts Organization. In 2002, Fred was presented with the title of Grand Master and the degree of Tenth by the Hawaii Martial Arts Society. Along with Martial Arts, Fred had a passion for fishing and "throwing net." He also joined the Army briefly and after he was honorably discharged, he became a carpenter subcontracted by the Navy at Pearl Harbor. He is survived by daughters Yvonne (Glenn) Lewellyn and Kelly (Raymond) Walters of Las Vegas, NV; Sister Lucille (Norman) Parker of Outlook, WA; Six Grandchildren; Seventeen Great Grandchildren; and Nine Great Great Grandchildren. Services were held at Mililani Memorial Park, Mauka Chapel, at 5:30 p.m. on June 1, 2019. His ashes were placed in a biodegradable turtle and released into Maunalua Bay on June 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.
