FLORA CAMERON CRICHTONJanuary 12, 1925 ~ March 2, 2019 Flora Cameron Crichton died peacefully in San Antonio, Texas on March 2, 2019. She considered Honolulu a second home, and for more than five decades spent time in Hawaii with friends and family. She was a graduate of Sweet Briar College, President and CEO of the Flora Cameron Foundation, and a woman known for her beauty, intellect, and philanthropic spirit. Her gifts to education and the arts include two university lecture series; the largest mosaic mural in the United States, commissioned for San Antonio's world's fair; and major gifts to her alma mater. She served on numerous boards, including the East-West Center in Honolulu; the School of American Research and the Georgia O'Keefe Museum, both in Santa Fe, NM; Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia; Trinity University; the San Antonio Art Institute and Hemisfair Executive Committee, all in San Antonio, Texas. She became an active member of the Republican Party in 1948---the first time she voted---and she served as Vice Chairman of the Texas Republican Party (1958-1960), Delegate to the Republican National Conventions (1960 and 1964), Alternate Delegate to the Republican National Conventions (1968), Member of the Republican National Finance Committee (1965), Member of the President's Mission to Latin America, headed by Governor Nelson Rockefeller (1969), United States Member of the Inter-American Commission on Women (OAS, 1969-1972), Consultant to the Department of State's Bureau of Inter-American Affairs (1972-1975), and Vice Chairman of the National Finance Committee for President George H.W. Bush (1988). She is preceded in death by her parents, William Waldo Cameron and Helen Miller Cameron; her stepfather, Bishop Everett Jones; husband, John H. Crichton; son, Ike Simpson Kampmann III; daughter, Helen Miller Kampmann; and stepsons, Stevenson and Holt Atherton. She is survived by her daughter Megan Kampmann Finch; stepchildren, Geary Atherton (Catherine), Kate Crichton Gubelmann (Jimmy), Bunnie Crichton, Lili Crichton Monell (Ambrose), John Crichton, Jr. (Chantelle), eighteen grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and hundreds of special friends that span the globe, including Mary Emily and Jimmy Greenwell of Honolulu. Dr. Robert Rikio DeMello DR. ROBERT RIKIO DEMELLO Rob passed away peacefully on February 28, 2019 in Wailuku, Maui. He was 48. Born and raised in Wailuku to Bertha Ching and Denis DeMello (deceased), Rob was a Nephrologist who graduated from UH Medical School. He was a resident doctor at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and returned to Maui to practice in 2014. He is survived by fianc Laura Correa; parents Bertha and Stanley Ching of Wailuku; sister Michelle DeMello (Michael Neely); step-brother Kimo Ching; and a loving army of family and friends.

Laura was married to Clifford F. Young for 66 years. She worked as a medical receptionist for 20 years and volunteered at the Honolulu Museum of Art for over 25 years and was an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Honolulu. Laura is survived by three siblings, five children, their spouses, and six grandchildren. Memorial Service on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at St. Peter's Church. Visitation from 9:00 AM. Shingo HiguchiAge 91, of Aiea, Oahu passed away in St. Louis Missouri on December 25, 2018 peacefully with loved ones by his side. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Teruko Higuchi. He was born September 26, 1927 to Kakuzo and Haruko Higuchi. Shingo was a retired electrician and a 63-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) local 1186 (since 1955). He is survived by his son, Darryl (Debbie) and daughter, Dana (Robert) Carvalho; along with grandchildren David Higuchi and Lauren Carvalho. He is a graduate of Waipahu High School Class of '45 and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1947. A soft-spoken man of few words but words given as "good as gold," and his signature smile always warmed your heart. He was one always willing to lend a helping hand. Shingo led a long and honorable life and will be fondly remembered and forever missed. Family Visitation: 12:30 pm; Memorial Service: 1 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary East Chapel with a reception to follow to celebrate Shingo's life. Hermenegilda TorresHermenegilda Torres, known to family and friends as "Gilda", passed away on February 8, 2019 in Wahiawa, at the age of 64. She was born in Honolulu on April 13, 1954 to the late Joaquin and Enid Reyes. She was the eldest daughter of 7 children. Growing up she helped raise her siblings. She had her first child at 19 and later married the love of her life on 10/15/1985. They soon after had two children of their own. Gilda truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, whether it was chatting with friends and family, camping, going to the beach, watching Korean dramas, or just spending time with her grandchildren. Her greatest trait was her ability to make those she met feel like family. She will forever be known as an amazing wife, the cool mom, glue of the family, and the greatest grandma ever. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Torres; children, Scott Liwai, Justin Torres, Casey Fajardo; grandchildren, Anfernee Liwai, Johnny Fajardo and Audrey Fajardo. Melanie 78, passed away on August 27, 2018 in Clay Center KS surrounded by Family who Loved her So. Melanie was born on August 05, 1940 in Ohio to Charles & Viola (Carr) Davis. Melanie married her former husband, Paul A Lucas (RET LTC, Army) and had 4 beautiful children. In 1971 the family moved to Hawai'i due to Military Service however shortly after separated. Melanie remained in Hawai'i and raised her children while she put herself through college and worked full time. She earned her BSN Degree from Hawai'i Loa University in 1987. Melanie was an amazing person, she left the only life she knew in Ohio and moved to Hawai'i and created a life for her family that only dreams are made of. Melanie sang for the Honolulu Symphony and for the Honolulu Opera Company. She was also a part of the Oahu's North Shore Christian Fellowship. She is survived by her 4 children: Christine (Joseph) Calaustro, Jeffrey (Mitzi) Lucas, Jennifer (Rob) Wirtz & Ryan (Jenny) Lucas; 15 GrandChildren, 12 Great GrandChildren & 6 Great Great GrandChildren. Celebration of Life Service: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Ali'i Beach Park in Haleiwa The sinking of her ashes will follow, off the shore of Ali'i Beach, a place that Melanie Loved and called Home.

Frederick 76, of Hawaii Kai, passed away at Straub Hospital, on December 20, 2018, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the eldest child of Fred and Ruth Zukeran and grew up in the Aina Koa and Koko Head areas of Honolulu. He worked in airline cargo for nearly 30 years, was the primary caretaker of his mother and father-in-law in the last years of their lives, and for the past 16 years continued to enjoy helping others in his career as a massage therapist at the Kahala Hotel. Fred is survived by wife, Kay; son, Damian (Nana); daughter, Thea (Eric) Helfer; grandchildren, Ryenne and Connor Helfer, and Sara and Rick Zukeran. He is also survived by brother, Gregory (Karean); and sisters, Gail (Allen) Furutani and Wilma Suehisa.
