Edwin Eddie Asaichi Ebisui, Jr.July 10, 1951 - July 23, 2018 Ed attended Haleiwa Elementary School, Punahou School, California Lutheran College, earned his Juris Doctor degree at University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and opened his private law practice in Wahiawa in 1978. He was also a District Court Judge from 1990 to 1994. He was a lifelong resident of Haleiwa and had an ever-present love for the ocean fishing, crabbing, surfing and diving. Since the 1980s, he was constantly involved in various organizations and agencies, supporting sustainable use of ocean resources throughout the Pacific. He was a member of the Waialua Boat Club and Chairman of the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council. He also enjoyed traveling, photography, hunting and motorcycles. He is survived by daughter Alissa (Jason) Baligad, son Edwin (Robyn) Ebisui, III; granddaughter Aliya Baligad; sisters: Ellen Nemoto and Lorelei Campbell. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Mililani Memorial Park in the Mauka Chapel. Visitation: 9:00 a.m.; Service: 10:30 a.m. Lunch to follow.

Merle Homer Arnold, Jr.

Merle Homer Arnold, Jr.Born in Berthold, North Dakota on September 14, 1917. He passed away on May 7, 2018 in Kaneohe, Hawaii. His family left North Dakota for Nebraska when Merle was very young, and he was essentially raised in northeast Nebraska on various ranches. Sometime after high school, he joined the army and was posted to Hawaii on March 1, 1940 when he was twenty-two years old. Upon arrival he learned that he was to be stationed at Hickam Field. It was there that he found himself on the morning of Dec. 7th, 1941. He married Rose Kwai Lan Lum on January 5, 1943 who predeceased him on Nov. 30, 2009. He is survived by his three children: Patricia Ann Cantrell (husband James Cantrell) of Klamath Falls, Oregon; Merle Homer Arnold III (partner Daniel Dickey) of Santa Rosa Valley, CA; and Thomas Anthony Arnold of Kailua, Hawaii. In addition to his children, he is survived by his brother Robert Arnold of Colorado. He is also survived by a grand- daughter, Kimberly Cantrell Hanks, and two great grandsons, Trent J. Hanks and Travis J. Hanks, all of Texas. Merle had been a resident of Wilson Care Home since Dec. 31, 2015. A Memorial Mass will be held for him at St. John Vianney's in Kailua on Sept. 6, 2018 at 11 AM with inurnment to follow at Hawaii State Veteran's Cemetery. Muriel Ah Tau ChoyMarch 20, 1920 - July 27, 2018 Born in Honolulu to Ho See & Hing Choy, Muriel was the second of seven children. Muriel grew up on New Era Lane near Ft. Street Mall before relocating to Koko Head Avenue in Kaimuki. She worked for many years at the Blue Cross Animal Hospital on Kapiolani Blvd. and later at Farrington High School. She loved animals and children. Among Muriel's proudest achievements was earning a BA in Asian Studies with an emphasis in Chinese culture and history from the University of Hawaii at Manoa at the age of 75. Predeceased by eldest sister Xiou Ying Tom of Guangzhou, China, and younger siblings Vivian (Paul) Rose, Walter, and William (Marge) Choy. Survived by sisters Ellen Chung of Federal Way, WA, and Rose (Jock) Lee of Castro Valley, CA. 62, beloved brother, father, grandfather, in-law and dear friend returned home to Jesus on July 26, 2018. Born October 2, 1955 Daniel was raised in Honolulu and graduated Kaimuki High School in 1974. He had lived in Captain Cook, Hawaii Island for the last 20+ years. A long time Local 5 member, he worked for many years at the Hawaiian Regent Hotel in Honolulu and just recently retired from the Royal Kona Resort in Kailua-Kona. Honorably discharged on April 9, 1984 from the Army National Guard. He and his son Micah were involved for many years with Special Olympics, West Hawaii. He was a faithful, dedicated and inspirational volunteer, unified partner, coach and chaperon. In 2017, Daniel received the "Volunteer of the Year" award for his tremendous efforts in assisting the West Hawaii delegation. He had a heart of gold and was always there to extend a hand. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah. Sons, Andrew and Micah. Sisters, Paula A. Ayer (Matthew), Susan A. Imamura (Hiroshi), Priscilla Winger (Jarvy). Brother, David A. Dela Cruz. Grandchildren, Makenzie, Sydney and Kynaston. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, all greatly loved. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Holy Trinity Church. Visitation at 10:00am, service to begin at 10:30am. Please join our family in a celebration honoring Daniel's life on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Yano Hall, 82-6156 Mamalahoa Hwy., Captain Cook, Hawaii. Aloha/casual attire.
