Robert Nelson, Nelson, 68, of Makakilo, died on Nov 25th. Bob was born and raised in Honolulu and attended St. Louis High and graduated from Waianae High School in 1966. He served in Vietnam in the infantry, receiving the purple heart and bronze star with valor for saving the life of a friend (though he would have done the same for a stranger). He earned his BS and worked for the US Post Office for 43 years. He married Linda, the love of his life, 48 years ago and devoted his life to her and his two boys, Brandon and Ryan. He coached soccer and tennis throughout his sons' youth from kindergarten through high school. He volunteered countless hours to coaching Iroquois/Barbers Point military youth. The soccer field is named "Robert C. Nelson Field" in his honor because of the dedication and unconditional love he gave to children. He was beloved by everyone who knew him because of his sense of humor and kind heart. He loved photography, fine wine, travel, but most of all his family. He will be missed. He could talk story and and relate to anyone without judgment. Everyone who knew Bob loved him. Bob is survived by Linda, Brandon, and Ryan Nelson; as well as his sisters and brothers: Donna Curtis, Linda Lindsey, Ronald Nelson, Junior Lindsey and Alvin Lindsey.
