MARGARET TOKIKO YAMATO Age 89, passed away on August 18, 2016 in Honolulu. She grew up in Honokaa, Hawaii and was one of six children of Kango Yamato and Shizuka Tanaka. The family was well known in Honokaa and owned the Yamato Store. Margaret received her BA from University of Hawaii, and her MA from Columbia University in New York. She became a history teacher and counselor at Farrington, Waipahu and McKinley high schools in Honolulu. She was a world traveler, loved the symphony, loved playing mahjong and bridge, and created beautiful crafts. She also loved to eat, talk, laugh and had strong opinions about everything.
