$nameSR. MARIE DOMINIC REANTASO Sr. Marie Dominic Reantaso (Ruth Ann) died peacefully in sleep on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the convent of Malia O Ka Malu. She was 83 years old. After recovering from a stroke, and rehabilitation, Sister returned to the convent under hospice care. Sr. Marie Dominic was born on July 18, 1932 in Hilo to Sunday(Domingo) Reantaso and Lucy Novite Silva Reantaso. She attended Sacred Hearts Academy and graduated in 1951. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts in 1951 and taught religion and music at Sacred Hearts Academy from 1956 to 1975. In 1975 Sister was assigned to Maria Regina School in Gardena, California where she continued to teach and direct the parish choir. In 1981, after studying at the Mexican American Cultural Center, her ministry was in San Bernardino where she worked with the Department of Evangelization and Catechesis for Hispanics. Later, in 1997 she was consultant for the Office of Religious Education and Formation in the Riverside Diocese of California. Returning to Hawaii, Sister served in the parish of Maria Lanakila in Lahaina, Maui. Then in 2007, Sister was part of the Community in Mission, a new ministry that the Sacred Hearts Brothers and Sisters began in Artesia, New Mexico. In 2014, Sr. Marie Dominic returned to Hawaii and residence at Malia O Ka Malu Convent in Kaimuki where she served on the Board of Directors of Sacred Hearts Academy until her hospitalization in January of 2016 and her passing to eternal life in April. She is survived by her sister Carmen Singson, her brother Thomas Reantaso and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 9:00 a.m., Sacred Hearts Academy chapel, 3253 Waialae Avenue in Kaimuki, MASS at 11:30 a.m. with additional parking at St. Patrick Church, burial to follow 1:00 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to the Sacred Hearts Academy Scholarship Fund. Funeral arrangements by Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary.
