GILBERT YOON BONG CHOI October 9, 1931 - March 17, 2016 Our loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away on March 17 surrounded by his loving family. Gilbert was born in Hilo and was a graduate of McKinley High School and the University of Hawaii. He served in the U.S. Army before becoming an educator. He retired as principal of Kaneohe Elementary School. He was a former member of the Kaneohe Lions, the King Golf Club and Windward New Hope Christian Fellowship. Survived by wife Doris Park, daughter Kathryn (Jeffrey) Ellwanger, son Eric (Diane) Choi, grandchildren Kellen Ellwanger and Samantha Choi and brothers Albert Choi and Stanley Choi. His life will be celebrated at Borthwick Mortuary, Mauka Chapel on Saturday April 9. Visitation at 3 pm followed by services and program at 4 pm.
